Found at 5,100 feet, Eagle Lake is located in northern California’s Shasta Cascades – just north of the city of Susanville. California’s second largest natural lake, Eagle Lake’s surface covers 24,000 acres.
Reaching depths of up to 85 feet, this endorheic alkaline lake features recreation like trout fishing, boating, and swimming. The Eagle Lake Recreation Area is located within the Lassen National Forest’s Eagle Lake Ranger District, and also yields over five miles of hiking and biking trails, nature viewing, and Gallatin Beach.
