Kruse Rhododendron State Reserve

The Kruse Rhododendron State Reserve, located near Healdsburg, began as an ranch for the Kruse family in 1880. The land was donated to the state in 1933. Visitors today enjoy the five miles of hiking trails through the 317 acres of second-growth redwood, grand fir and Douglas fir forests and clusters of rhododendrons. During May, hikers enjoy the brilliant pink rhododendron blossoms.

The Department of Parks and Recreation maintain the reserve to ensure the regenerating forest is not overwhelming the rhododendrons.
