The monument is comprised of a rugged landscape of volcanic features, 700 lava tube caves, historic battlefields and Native American rock art. Pick up a map from the visitor center to figure out which of the dozens of caves, you want to tour, before setting out on your journey. Enjoy a short and easy 0.8 mile hike to Symbol Bridge and the Big Painted Cave, to see the black and white Modoc-style pictographs.
Bring your camera to capture the Fleener Chimneys - formed when molten lava piled up creating a chimney in the middle.
