Manzanar National Historic Site
Located at the foothills of California's High Sierras, Manzanar National Historic Site preserves the campsites where over 110,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated during World War II. Plan your next visit to the city of Bishop, and make the scenic – and quick – drive in.
Also a short drive north from Lone Pine, the site today functions as the gateway to the stories of resident citizens interned during war time and features exhibitions on the history of the camp and its impact on civil rights. Don't miss touring reconstructed mess halls and barracks, which show daily life as it happened in the camp.
