Modesto City-County Airport
Modesto City-County Airport, at Harry Sham Field, has been in operation since 1918, making it the first municipally-owned airport in America. The airport relocated to the current location, southeast of Modesto, encompassing 435 acres. This Central Valley airport was used by the U.S. Air Corps for training, during World War II.
In 1946, the airport offered its first commercial flight through United Airlines. Flights to San Francisco are available today, via United Airlines. The airport's general aviation services are provided through a variety of fixed base operators. Whether flying twin and single engine airplanes, Corporate jets, helicopters or ultralights, the airport's services have everything covered. While in the area, check into a comfortable Best Western guest room for a wonderful night's rest.
