Muir Woods National Monument
Muir Woods National Monument is located near Corte Madera in the Marin County. The monument encompasses 559 acres of land, including 240 acres of old-growth Coast Redwood forests. The land was declared a National Monument by President Roosevelt in 1908 and is named after John Muir, a naturalist who was instrumental in establishing the National Park System.
