San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport

San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, located south of San Luis Obispo, opened in 1939 with dirt runways and a hangar. It was used during World War II as a training airfield. General and commercial aviation commenced, at the completion of the war. In 1987, the airport was dedicated as McChesney Field, as a tribute to Leroy E. McChesney, a local pilot.

This 340-acre airport located along the Central Coast, offers commercial flights to Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco, via United Express and US Airways Express airlines.
