San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport
A great choice when flying into the Central California Coast region, Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is is located south of San Luis Obispo. It opened in 1939 with dirt runways and a hangar. It was used during World War II as a training airfield. General and commercial aviation commenced, at the completion of the war. In 1987, the airport was dedicated as McChesney Field, as a tribute to Leroy E. McChesney, a local pilot.
This 340-acre airport located along the Central Coast, offers commercial flights to Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco, via United Express and US Airways Express airlines.
