Visiting the San Francisco Bay Area
While the Bay Area can yield fun-filled days and unforgettable experiences for travelers at any time of the year, it’s the fall when this region of California is truly at its most vibrant. From the epicenter in San Francisco, and its across the bay neighbor, Oakland, to San Jose and Santa Clara, you’ll find a wide range of excellent and must-see attractions this fall.
Mark your calendar for a visit to San Francisco over the weekend of September 23rd for their annual Oktoberfest By the Bay. Head for Pier 48 late this summer and check out an impressive array of cold beer samples, excellent food, and plenty of music and dancing.
One of the prime destinations in San Jose for can’t-miss events is the SAP Center at San Jose. This venue can seat up to 19,000 people, and this fall you’ll find a wide range of shows to see. Catch megastars Drake and Future on their Summer Sixteen Tour on September 24th and 25th.
The stars are out later in the fall – international star Marco Antonio Solis will take the stage at the SEP Center on October 1st, and on October 31st, enjoy a Halloween celebration with Five Finger Death Punch and Shinedown. You can make the short drive in from nearby Milpitas or Sunnyvale.
The areas around Menlo Park and Mountain View are giddy this time of year – it’s college football season. Make your way to the campus of Stanford University and Stanford Stadium this fall and catch The Cardinal in action. They open up their 2016 season at home on September 2nd against the Kansas State Wildcats, and later they celebrate homecoming on October 22nd in a match up against the University of Colorado Buffaloes.
Check out the party in downtown Oakland on September 11th – it’s Oakland Pride Parade & Festival. Celebrate the incredible diversity of the Bay Area when the event kicks off with its annual parade between 14th Street and 20th Street in downtown Oakland. You’ll be treated to live music, art performances, and for those with kids, head over to the Family & Children’s Garden.
Be sure you cross the San Pablo Bay during your Bay Area visit and check out Fairfield. Enjoy a unique and refreshing Halloween celebration in Fairfield on October 8th at the annual BooZ & BrewZ Beer Festival. Held throughout the Downtown Fairfield Business District, this kicks off the Halloween season, and all the while helps to support local breweries and business in the area.
