Visiting San Francisco Bay Area
Springtime in the Bay Area has arrived, and with it all the fun, interesting to-do’s for travelers. From the Fort Point National Historic Park in San Francisco, and the Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach in Oakland, to the always popular Jelly Belly Factory Tour in Fairfield – the San Francisco Bay area is a premium springtime destination. Guests of the Best Western hotels in the Bay Area love a visit to Ardenwood Regional Preserve and Historic Farm in Livermore, a scenic half hour drive east of Hayward. In Livermore, don’t miss out on the Barrel Tasting Weekend at Garre Winery, on the March 31.
San Francisco, dubbed the “City by the Bay,” is the epicenter of attraction, tourism, and sightseeing in the Bay Area. Visitors flock from around the world to visit San Francisco, a city rich in culture, history and plenty to see and do. Enjoy cool spring temperatures with a hike through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, or visit the famous Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail.
Baseball fans, check out the San Francisco Giants regular season home opener on April 13, when they face the Pittsburgh Pirates at AT&T Park. And any visit to San Francisco must include a visit to the legendary Alcatraz Island – there’s much to see and do when you explore the San Francisco bay area.
Across the Bay is Oakland – another of California’s iconic cities. Home of the Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, springtime visitors to Oakland love a visit to Eastshore State Park. Take the kids out for a fun afternoon at the Oakland Zoo, where on March 31, guests are encouraged to bring a few pieces of fresh fruit as a part of the Fest for the Beasts program – you and kids will get to meet and feed a selection of zoo animals.
Oakland is an eclectic and diverse city – head to the O.co Coliseum, formerly the Oakland Coliseum, and watch as the Oakland A’s take on the Cleveland Indians in a three game weekend series, starting April 20. A week later on April 27, check out the 8th Annual CubaCaribe Festival at Laney College.
Stockton is an attractive city set just over an hour east of Oakland. Dubbed as “California’s Sunrise Seaport,” Stockton is home to the Haggin Museum, and is a delightful springtime destination. April 27-29 is the Stockton Asparagus Festival.
Head into Modesto, only a 40 minute drive south, and check out the McHenry Museum, or take advantage of wonderful spring weather with an exploration of Beard Brook Park.
