Visiting San Francisco Bay Area
With the holidays safely behind you, make your next travel plans for the San Francisco bay area. There’s a wealth of activity in January and February – from Stockton to San Mateo, and as far east as Modesto. Explore an eclectic region of California, with visits to the Oracle Arena in Oakland, or Union Square in the heart of San Francisco. An adventure fit for the whole family can be found at the San Mateo Public Library, where on February 21, you and the kids will be treated to a viewing of ParaNorman.
Drive along the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge and explore Oakland. The sports fan in your group will enjoy a visit to Oracle Area, home of the Golden State Warriors. Check out an exciting Warriors game on Wednesday, February 20th when the Phoenix Suns are in town.
Oracle Arena is also the place to be for live music – check out Muse on Monday, January 28th, or Soundgarden on Tuesday, February 12.
Take a cruise south along the coast and you’ll discover Pacifica. A pleasant and charming city, Pacifica is home to the Mildred Owen Concert Hall. Enjoy your visit to Pacifica on February 16, when Patrick Ball displays his Celtic Harp talents at the Mildred Owen Concert Hall.
Closer to Pleasanton, you’ll want to explore Hayward. A friendly city set just inland of the San Francisco Bay, Hayward is home to the Garin Regional Park, and the Hayward Area Historical Society & Museum. Don’t miss out on a live performance of Sherlock Holmes: the Final Adventure, staged at the Douglas Morrison Theatre – shows begin February 14, and run through March 10.
Northwest of San Jose is Sunnyvale. Make plans to explore Sunnyvale on your trek around the Bay Area. Sunday, February 3 you’ll be in for a real treat – head to the Sunnyvale Public Library where the Fremont High School Chamber of Music Ensemble play a selection of classics.
A visit to Redwood City, south of San Mateo, brings you just minutes from the exciting action of college basketball. Tour the history and charm of Redwood City with a romantic Valentines Day stroll through Bayfront Park – later in the evening, continue the heart-felt activities with a visit to Stanford University. It’s an 8 p.m. tip-off as the Stanford Cardinals take on the USC Trojans in a fierce Pac-12 match up.
