NFL teams across California
America’s most popular sport, the NFL, is a major hit in the Golden State. With four popular franchises in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Oakland, California has a wealth of options when it comes to the hard-hitting action of the NFL.
Visit the Bay Area during the fall and watch as the San Francisco 49ers battle. The 49ers inaugural season was 1946, and the franchise has won numerous Super Bowl titles.
Across the Bay is Oakland. A fine city, Oakland is home to the NFL’s Oakland Raiders. Established in 1960 as a member of the American Football League, the Raiders joined the NFL in 1970, and since have established a fine, competitive record, winning three Super Bowls. Visitors from neighboring cities like Hayward, and Danville make plans to visit the O.co Coliseum where they’ll join thousands of Raider Nation fans create the “black hole” in the stands.
Set in one of California’s major tourism hubs, the San Diego metro area, the San Diego Chargers are a popular NFL franchise in southern California. Established in 1960, the Chargers have zero Super Bowl wins, but plenty of success in other areas. Head to Qualcomm Stadium during the fall, which draws fans from nearby cities like Oceanside, and Chula Vista, and cheer on the Chargers who plan in the AFC West.
After being relocated to St. Louis in 1995, the Los Angeles Rams have returned to the City of Angels, much to the delight of Angelinos throughout the LA metro area. The Rams will play home games at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – the long time home of the University of Southern California Trojans – while their state-of-the-art stadium is constructed.
