Visit destinations like Joshua Tree National Park, Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area or the Salton Sea. El Paseo in Palm Desert is the ideal spot for a shopping trip, along with your pick of wonderful restaurants. Join events like the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival, the Idyllwild Jazz Festival, or take in a Dive-In Movie at Knott’s Soak City. Don’t just pass through the desert region of southern California, stop for day or two, and relax by a Best Western hotel pool and enjoy the area.
Film Buffs enjoy the Palm Springs 2012 International Short Film Festival, June 19th through June 25th. Known as Palm Springs ShortFest, the festival is a celebration of the art of short film making. Screenings include more than 300 films from over 50 countries, making for an exceptional selection of works. Films are shown at Camelot Theatres on Baristo Road in Palm Springs. Catch cutting edge shorts, participate in panel discussions and seminars, and network with film industry professionals at the Palm Springs International ShortFest.
Through July 29th, visitors to California’s desert region see the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition, Bittersweet Harvest: The Bracero Program, 1942 – 1964.
