The LA/Ontario International Airport, in the Los Angeles suburb of Ontario, was built in 1923 by The Friends of Ontario Airport - a flying club. The airport was named Latimer Field. In 1943, during World War II, it served as a Army Air Corps P-38 training base and P-59 operating base. In the 1950's, the airport was home to Douglas, Northop and Lockheed aircraft plants.

The airport's long runways are sometimes used as an alternative for LAX flights, during inclement weather. The Page Museum La Brea Tar Pits is located in one of the world's most famous fossil locations. The museum features one of the most diverse exhibits of Ice Age animals and plants.
