Visiting California's Inland Empire

Well known as a gateway to the beach cities of the Los Angeles area, California’s Inland Empire is a travel destination in its own right this summer. From Moreno Valley and San Bernardino to Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario, sports, special events, festivals, and plenty more activities mean summer vacationers have much to see and do this season.

Baseball fans needn’t drive all the way to LA – or even to Anaheim for that matter – to enjoy a day at the ballpark this summer. The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the minor league affiliates of the Los Angeles Dodgers play Single-A baseball at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga. Check the schedule to see the future big-league stars in action – the MiLB season goes through the early September.

To the northeast, nestled into the San Bernardino Mountains and the San Bernardino National Forest, the city of Big Bear Lake is southern California’s four-season respite. It’s crystalline namesake lies amid unmatched mountain beauty, with towering pines, natural hot springs, and abundant wildlife primed to make a summer visit unforgettable.

On July 12th, families traveling with young kids won’t want to miss the 2015 Old Time Bear Country Fair. Enjoy country fair staples while exploring the Big Bear Alpine Zoo in Big Bear Lake. Festival activities include games, just-for-kids fun, food, and more, beginning at 5 p.m.

The San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino is a go-to stop for some of the biggest concert tours year round – and this summer, two iconic rock ‘n’ roll acts pay a visit together. Kid Rock and Foreigner take the state on August 29th, and fans are guaranteed a cheap night. Kid Rock promises tickets will be no more than $20, and beers no more than $4.

Soak up some suds this summer at the 2015 I-15 Brew Fest on August 1st. Held at Galway Downs in Temecula, this event is set to feature live performances, DJs, catered festival food, and endless craft beer selections from regional pubs and breweries. The event begins at 6 p.m.

And if you’re still thirsty, the 2015 CRUSH Wine & Culinary Showcase is a wine festival for the ages. Enjoy some of the best handcrafted wines and gourmet meals the Temecula Valley has to offer on a walk-about hosted by Wiens Family Cellars. Event start time is TBA.
