Los Angeles in spring is a magical season for sports fans. The Lakers are wrapping up the season at the Staples Center, while Dodger Stadium comes alive when the LA Dodgers open their 2013 home season in April. Runners take to the streets in March for the 28th annual LA Marathon, taking participants along a course from Dodger Stadium to the Pacific Ocean. Runner’s get a tour of Los Angeles landmarks including Walt Disney Concert Hall and the TCL Chinese Theatre as the course leads them down Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive to the Santa Monica Pier. East Los Angeles County hosts the 2013 Wildflower Festival at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden 10-miles east of Glendora. The Wildflower Festival is March 30th and 31st, with April 1st featuring the Wildflower Festival Senior Day – free admission and services for senior guests over 65. Located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden has a backdrop of beautiful mountain vistas.

Spring in Long Beach brings the 2013 Long Beach Bach Festival. Scheduled events run through April 14th, marking the 39th year celebrating the music of Bach. Enjoy Bach Cantatas and Motets on April 6th at the Belmont Heights United Methodist Church. The closing concert is Sunday, April 14th featuring guitarist Martha Masters at Sababa Restaurant and Lounge on Pacific Coast Highway.

Santa Clarita, 30-miles north of downtown Los Angeles, celebrates the country western heritage of motion pictures at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival. The 2013 Valencia-Santa Clarita festival is April 20th and 21st at the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio, 5-miles east of Valencia. Enjoy authentic cowboy grub, live music, trick ropers and vendors. Grab your hat and boots for a visit to the Cowboy Festival, or you can buy the real thing when you get there.

Launch summer vacation in Long Beach at The Queen Mary at MECDA’s 36th Annual Cairo Caravan 2013. The Middle Eastern Culture and Dance Association of Los Angeles fills the Queen Mary with the largest belly dance festival in the US, May 31st through June 2nd. Cairo Caravan is a feast for the senses featuring three stages of continuous dancing, live music, vendors and wonderful food. Enjoy a long weekend in Long Beach.
