Los Angeles has no shortage of fall sports. Whether you are a spectator or an active participant, the City of Angels and surrounding Los Angeles County communities have you covered. The Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles is a hub of activity come fall. Basketball fans look forward to the November start of the NBA Lakers' and Clippers' 2012 – 2013 season at the Staples Center – don’t miss the November 2nd game when the two Los Angeles teams face off. October means the start of the LA Kings hockey season; home bouts are at the Staples Center. It is the season in Los Angeles to get out and enjoy your favorite sports and activities.

Signaling the end of the thoroughbred-racing season, Santa Anita Park, just east of Pasadena in Arcadia, hosts the 2012 Breeders Cup. Mark your calendars for November 2nd and 3rd, for Championship Friday and Saturday and the Breeders’ Cup World Championship races. Ladies, don your most fabulous Fascinator and top your man with a fine fedora – judges will be looking for the best to crown at the Breeders’ Cup Fascinators & Fedoras fashion event.

For golf fans, Thousand Oaks hosts the 2012 PGA World Challenge, November 29th through December 2nd. Sherwood County Club is home to the challenge, and with a 5 million dollar purse and Tiger Woods defending last year's win, exciting golf is a near guarantee. The Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks features a Jack Nicklaus designed course and is considered one of the world's best. Enjoy world-class golf in Thousand Oaks.

Malibu Creek State Park, 15-miles north of Malibu Beach, is the site of the 2012 Malibu Canyon Trail Runs. Located in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains, runners choose from 10K, 25K, or 50K courses offering scenic views of the Pacific Ocean, mountains and settings where M*A*S*H and Planet of the Apes were filmed. Events are held October 21st, with the 10K course making an ideal beginner's trail run.

On Saturday, October 20th, Santa Monica’s Rocket Running Club hosts the Hercules Marathon Weekend. With events for all levels, runners choose from 10-mile, half marathon, marathon and 50K courses. Join runners at the beach path off Bay Street and Ocean Avenue, for a beautiful fall run in Santa Monica.

For triathlon enthusiasts, join the renegade Race Series, Sports Chalet M3 (Magic Mountain Man) Triathlon, on October 14th. Held just 10-miles north of Valencia and Santa Clarita at Castaic Lake, this event offers three distances. Choose from a Long Course Tri, Olympic Distance Tri or the Sprint Distance Tri. Races begin with a swim in Castaic Lake, followed by a bike course through the mountains and a run along the lakeshore trails. Considered difficult, there is a post-race celebration with music and food. The Magic Mountain Man Triathlon is the only long distance triathlon in the Los Angeles area.
