Visiting Los Angeles Metro Area

The biggest problem you’ll face when visiting Los Angeles is simple: there’s just so much to see and do. The Los Angeles metro area blends an eclectic mix of quaint and charming suburbs – from Norwalk to Wilmington – with a selection of popular cities, attracting droves of annual visitors – Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Long Beach. On your post-holiday visit into the LA area, you’ll find fun festivals like the Pan African Film & Arts Festival on February 7 at the RAVE Cinemas near Beverly Hills. Head to the campus of UCLA and find the Fowler Museum on February 9th for the Pre-Purim Bash.

Make your way to Anaheim – easily accessed from I-5 – and visit the Discovery Science Center. Presented by the National Geographic Society, don’t miss out on experiencing the Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology, and event available to the public through April 21 2013 – perfect for fans of the movie series, or families looking for an afternoon activity.

The month of February is a good time to explore Anaheim – especially if you’re a sports fan. The Palm Tree Men’s Gymnastics Invitational runs from February 15th – 18th at the OC Fair & Event Center. On February 16th, head to the Honda Center and watch as the Harlem Globetrotters razzle and dazzle with trickery, intricate passes, and slam-dunks.

Head west from Anaheim and discover Los Alamitos, a pleasant and charming city easily accessed from I-605. Don’t miss out on the 32nd Annual Southland Credit Union Los Alamitos Race on the Base, set for February 23rd. With a 1K, 5K, and 10Km, there’s a race for all levels of experience – register today.

February 16th, head into downtown Los Angeles and visit the neighborhood of Chinatown where you’ll help ring in the Chinese New Year – it’s the Year of the Snake! The event in Chinatown is free, and one of the largest celebrations in the country – be sure to stick around for the 114th Annual Golden Dragon Parade.

In Thousand Oaks, north of downtown LA, be sure to visit the Sherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza on January 28 – Jackson Browne will be performing his hits. From Thousand Oaks, you’ll head to Burbank, where the entire family will enjoy a visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour & Museum.

Before you’re time in the LA is complete, you’ll want to make a drive into Long Beach. Plan for a full day of excitement in Long Beach – visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, then check out Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch. Before you do all that, though, be sure to start your day off right with a breakfast from the Starling Diner – you’ll regret not trying the French toast.
