Spanish for Butterfly, Mariposa is situated in pine-laden forests and is a short drive from Oakhurst. Like its namesake, butterflies take center stage in Mariposa from business decorations to the annual Butterfly Days Festival.

Visit the California Mining Mineral State Museum, the California State Mining Museum, and the Mariposa Museum to learn a piece of Mariposa history. Rich in mining history, Mariposa was a huge part of the Sacramento Gold Rush.
