Napa County’s Wine Country
California’s Napa Valley Wineries
Napa County
Home to the famed Napa Valley American Viticultural Area – or just Napa Valley – Napa County is one of the more well-known wine areas in the country. Set just north of the San Francisco Bay area, Napa County is the heart of California’s Wine Country.
Cities include Napa and Calistoga, both set amidst many wineries and vineyards in the area. More than five million travelers visit Napa Valley each year for wine tastings – all thirsty for chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and zinfandel.
Napa Valley is broken down into large-scale wineries that have been in operation for decades, and more intimate, boutique wineries throughout the county. Popular wineries include Charles Krug Winery, Robert Mondavi Winery, and Nichelini and Beringer, while the boutique operations consist of Screaming Eagle, Duckhorn Vineyards, Jericho Canyon Vineyards, and many more.
