Exploring the Sequoia National Park
Sequoia National Park
Coupled with the Kings Canyon National Park, the Sequoia National Park is best known for its plethora of giant sequoia trees, and more than 240 caves perfect for exploration. Set in California’s Sierra Nevada region, the Sequoia National Park is home to the highest point in the contiguous U.S. – Mount Whitney.
Take your adventure underground at Sequoia National Park, and bring out your inner speleologist. This park is known for the Lilburn Cave – California's longest cave at 20 miles. Although not accessible to visitors, park guests may explore Crystal Cave, the second longest cave in the park at nearly four miles.
Meanwhile, above ground, travelers may hike the famed Sherman Tree Trail, the mile long loop trail allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the giant sequoia trees of the park. Guests need also visit the famed Tunnel Log, Crescent Meadow, and the Giant Forest Museum. A must-see is Moro Rock, home to the 400-step stairway – found on the National Register of Historic Places – to get an amazing view of the Sequoia National Park.
Visiting in the winter? The park features everything from picnics and snow play to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Check out Pear Lake Ski Hut, and enjoy the rest of you time in Sequoia National Park.
