On the CA-AZ border in the Mojave Desert, you'll find Needles. Visit the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, one of the last remaining stretches of water flowing through the lower Colorado River. The Wildlife Refuge is preserved for endangered bighorn sheep and southwestern willow flycathchers, and is a popular CA desert attraction.
Directly north of Blythe, Needles yields a wealth of natural beauty. Once passing Havasu, stop by the Moabi Regional Park. Here you can find fishing, boating, water skiing and relaxation in abundance. Located in the Providence Mountains is the Providence Mountains State Recreation Area. Home to the Mojave Natural Preserve, the Providence Recreation Area can be seen from Interstate 40.
