Visiting California's North Coast

Even throughout the winter, California’s north coast remains a highly sought-after vacation destination. The region’s miles of pristine beaches, not to mention its iconic state and national parks, remain as scenic as ever, and mild weather allows for an abundance of outdoor activities.

What’s more, communities from Crescent City to Eureka to Fort Bragg host a variety of special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities – and visitors are invited to join in the fun.

There’s never a bad time to experience the larger-than-life redwoods of Redwood National Park up close. Arcata and Crescent City visitors enjoy the quickest access to the park, but getting a glimpse at its towering trees – many of which are over 700 years old – is well worth the drive for visitors in Fortuna, Garberville, and beyond.

The 2016 Cloverdale Citrus Fair is a day of family-friendly fun outdoors in Cloverdale, February 13th through 15th. Held at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds, it’s three days of midway rides and games, live entertainment, and a variety of citrus-themed activities, beginning at noon Friday, and 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

What better way to bask in NorCal’s cool and comfortable weather than by getting out and getting activie? On February 14th, the 2016 iHeartRun is an opportunity to do just that. The 5K course starts at Howarth Park in Santa Rosa before leading runners along a scenic course with views of Spring Lake and Lake Ralphine. Get down early and get your stretches in – the race starts at noon.

Music lovers make their way to Eureka for the 2016 Redwood Coast Music Fest, March 30th through April 3rd. The four-day festival features local, regional, and national acts performing everything from jazz to swing, blues, calypso, and more at six different venues throughout Eureka.
