Visiting Orange County
Orange County California is heading back to school, however the fun doesn’t stop. Meanwhile, the NHL Anaheim Ducks return to the ice at the Honda Center for preseason action September 25th. Huntington Beach celebrates the 10th anniversary of the BB Jazz Festival September 8th. The 2012 Festival is hosted at Huntington Beach Central Park, featuring lawn seating and plenty of shade trees. Bring a picnic and enjoy a full day of Jazz beginning at 10 am. Scheduled headliners include Peabo Bryson, Angie Stone and Walter Beasley – the BB Jazz Festival is a must for music fans.
Join the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce to say farewell to the swallows on October 6th. Celebrate the swallow migration south, at 2012’s The Vintage Food & Wine Festival and a delightful evening under the Orange County stars. Hosted at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, enjoy food and wine from popular Orange County restaurants and entertainment by local band, Family Style. The Vintage is a great night out in San Juan Capistrano.
Shopping anyone? Orange County has it all from outlets to high-end shops. The OC Fair & Events Center at the Orange County Fairgrounds, hosts the Orange County Market Place on weekends. A unique swap meet, OC Market Place is a value hunters dream. The city of Orange is home to the Block at Orange, which includes the Outlets at Orange, along with food and entertainment venues. If you like outlet shopping, this is the place.
For that special gift or outfit, check out the stores at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island or South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa – these are destinations for some serious shopping. The Lab in Costa Mesa offers an eclectic mix of unique shops, for those looking for something out of the ordinary. From Tustin’s Market Place and District at Tustin Legacy, to the Westminster Mall and points in between, there is definitely shopping in Orange County.
Runners visiting Orange County, no worries, the OC calendar is full of events. Anaheim hosts the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, August 31st through September 2nd. Make your 2012 Labor Day weekend an active one in Orange County. Branded the Happiest Race on Earth, the 13.1-mile course winds through Anaheim and Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. In addition to the half marathon, events include kids races and a family fun run 5K.
