Explore Ridgecrest, CA

Located in the California High Desert, Ridgecrest combines a stress-free lifestyle and old-fashioned values, in a technologically savvy business community. Just an hour and a half outside of the Sequoia National Forrest, it's home to the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS), and Little Petroglyph Canyon, home to the largest collection of ancient Indian rock art in North America.

Visitors enjoy the Maturango Museum featuring exhibits detailing the diversity of the Northern Mojave Desert. Check out the U.S. Navy Museum of Armament and Technology for an up-close look at the famous Sidewinder missile. Two of the major are in October, when the city hosts the Ridgecrest Balloon Festival, a celebration of hot air balloons, and the Desert Empire Fair, featuring carnival rides and live entertainment. Also, be sure and head west along the route 178 to Lake Isabella for year-round fishing, sailing and jet skiing.
