Found just inland of the San Francisco Bay, San Mateo is a city ripe with Spanish-era history in the San Francisco area. Located just off of the U.S. Route 101, and a just a few miles south of San Fransisco International Airport, San Mateo is a lively suburb of San Fransisco. The Japanese Tea Garden is the oldest Japanese garden in the U.S., and is located in Central Park. A Koi Pond where the kids can feed the fish. Or, for a more relaxing afternoon in the sun, pack a picnic basket and head to Coyote Point County Park. Take the kids over to CuriOdyssey and explore the interactive science exhibits.
