Visiting San Diego Metropolitan Area
Classic Southern California experiences top any San Diego summer traveler's itinerary. Formerly known as the Chula Vista Nature Center, the Discovery Center offers guests exhibits and highlights of Sweetwater Marsh and San Diego Bay.
Now the Sleep Train Amphitheatre, Chula Vista’s outdoor entertainment venue formerly known as Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre and the Coors Amphitheatre is ideal for summer evening concerts and performances. Summer 2013 concerts feature a diversity of performers ranging from Tim McGraw and Putbull to Dave Matthews Band. Be sure to check the schedule when you are in town.
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2013. One of several cultural attractions in Balboa Park, The Fleet celebrates forty years of science, learning and fun with Family Science Saturdays, Senior Mondays and free Tuesdays for residents. Treat yourself to an IMAX movie, or visit this summers Explor-O-Rama interactive Main Gallery exhibition from San Francisco’s Exploratorium.
A variety of festivals and events draw visitors to San Diego County along with its well-known destinations. LGBT residents and visitors gather on July 12th for San Diego Pride 2013. August brings CityFest to the heart of Sand Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood with the 29th annual street fair and marketplace. Join the 2013 CityFest August 11th.
Wednesday evenings during summer are the time to visit El Cajon east of downtown San Diego. Downtown El Cajon businesses hosts weekly Cajon Classic Cruise auto shows Wednesdays throughout the summer. Look for specials at El Cajon restaurants and bars as you browse the show along Prescott Promenade.
