Visit Southern California and San Diego this spring and enjoy a Padres game downtown at Petco Park. See the San Diego skyline from the Pacific Ocean. Hop aboard a whale watching excursion from the Embarcadero downtown, Point Loma or Oceanside Harbor. Enjoy destinations like SeaWorld or Legoland. Art, science and history enthusiasts be sure to visit the Museum of contemporary Art San Diego La Jolla for the exhibit "Lifelike" running through Memorial Day weekend, and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Rueben H. San Diego’s Mission Bay hosts rowers from around the globe for the 40th Annual San Diego Crew Classic, April 6th and 7th. The 2013 events draw mostly eight-oared rowing shells for junior, collegiate, masters and Olympic level teams. Mission Bay Park is headquarters for the events, and the location to enjoy food, music and other festival festivities while rowers take to the water. The San Diego Crew Classic is one of the world’s premier spring rowing events.

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are a must see destination for spring travelers to Southern California. Head to north San Diego County and Carlsbad on Interstate 5 and exit east at Palomar Airport Road. From March 1st through mid-May, the rolling hills explode with the colors of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, welcoming the arrival of spring. Plan to spend some time in Carlsbad and treat the kids to a visit to Legoland, just east of the Flower Fields.

Runners set your training to run the 2013 San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, June 2nd. Launch your summer with the marathon or half marathon challenge starting on the west side of Balboa Park at 6th Avenue and Quince Street. Make it a family event with the ING Kids Rock Run on Saturday, June 1st.

North of La Jolla, the Del Mar Fairgrounds, home of the Del Mar Racetrack, host the 2013 San Diego County Fair beginning June 8th. A summer tradition, the 2013 theme is Game On. Fair events also include the San Diego County Fair Wine Festival and Competition, the second year for the event.
