Visit Willits, Home of Seabiscuit
Conveniently set just off the U.S. Route 101 and the State Route 20, Willits is in Mendocino County, and is the "Gateway to the Redwoods." Set just 20 minutes north of Ukiah, and about an hour east of Fort Bragg, this city is host to Willits Frontier Days, "California's Oldest Continuous Rodeo." Held every Fourth of July, this week long celebration includes a carnival, water fights and a the Black Bart Gunfighters - they'll really fire you up. Many visitors also enjoy an afternoon at Ridgewood Ranch, the very home of Seabiscuit - the champion Thoroughbred. Children under 11 are free, and tours begin in May and end in October.
